Bright Tomorrows works
to improve the lives of children at risk by joining
with a number of overseas partners. We are involved
in strengthening these partners by providing them with
encouragement, material and financial support and where
appropriate, we also implement skills training.
Bright Tomorrows
believes that strong relationships with local partners
is an essential element in the work of bringing hope
to children at risk. Establishing trust and pursuing
integrity in all our operations gives us complete confidence
that resources and support are utilised to best effect.
It also ensures that we are regularly informed about
specific areas of need and are able to respond as necessary.
Our current partners are based in
the following locations:
Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe once
known as the "bread basket of Africa", this
country has been devastated by the AIDS epidemic and
political challenges. As many as 1 in 4 children left
as orphans struggling alone and our workers are enabling
more effective care in their communities.
In Zimbabwe
Bright Tomorrows supports Jeannie Sinclair. Jeannie
uses her skills as both a trained teacher and counsellor
to support orphans in the rural communities surrounding
Harare. Aspects of this work involve providing training
for carers and overseeing local partners. Access to
schooling is often difficult, with many unable to find
the $5 fee, so faciliating school places for vulnerable
children is a priority.

We are also
commencing an exciting new project with a community
in Mondoro, which will enable families to grow more
resistant crops that will not be so badly affected by
drought.

Haiti
Port
- Au -Prince
A team from
Bright Tomorrows went out to Port Au Prince to support
the relief efforts in the wake of the January earthquake.
As well as providing medical supplies, food and tents,
we also have set up support for some of the orphans
residing in the city centre. There are also plans to
revisit with a larger team in the Autumn in order to
rebuild a school that was demolished.
India
Bangalore
The Bangalore project has established a thriving primary
school. The school provides an education for some of
the children from the nearby slum area. Bright Tomorrows
has recently been involved in the funding of a new extension
to allow the school to increase it's intake of children.
We have also funded places for 12 children who lost
their parents in the Tsumani disaster.
Mozambique
Maputo
Iris have developed a comprehensive programme of care
for children that includes an orphanage, school and
medical clinic in Maputo, the country's capital. Bright
Tomorrows has been involved in supporting an initiative
at the city dump (known as the Bocaria). Here a pre-school
has been established, allowing several children whose
parents work daily on the dump as rag pickers to have
a secure place to go. Bright Tomorrows has funded resources
for the pre-school, provided a lunchtime meal for the
children and paid for a teacher's salary.
